Email marketing in Bristol

I work with Bristol shops and ecommerce brands remotely and monthly, inside your own email platform. This page covers what is different about a Bristol list, where buyers tend to care how things are made and notice a hard sell quickly.

Everything runs remotely, by email and the occasional video call. There is no Bristol office and I do not hold in-person meetings.

Working with a freelance email marketer in Bristol

Bristol has a lot of independent brands built on a point of view: sustainable clothing, local food and drink, refill shops, craft makers. Their customers chose them for reasons beyond price, so the email has to sound like the brand rather than a discount calendar.

That is hard to do from an agency template. One freelancer writing every email in your voice, and building the automations your plan covers, keeps the tone consistent from the welcome email onwards.

What is different about a Bristol ecommerce list

Three things, in practice.

Green claims have to hold up

If you say a product is sustainable, recyclable or carbon neutral, the Competition and Markets Authority expects you to be able to back it up under its Green Claims Code. That applies in email as much as on the website. Specific and provable beats vague and warm.

Constant sales cost subscribers

Buyers who chose you for your values tend to unsubscribe from a stream of discounts. Early access, restock alerts, production notes and care or repair guides give people a reason to open without eroding margin.

Food and drink have a reorder cycle

Coffee, tea, cider, sauces and pantry goods run out on a schedule. A replenishment flow timed to the real consumption cycle is often the highest-earning automation these shops can run.

Veganuary, Plastic Free July and Zero Waste Week in September are real moments for some Bristol brands, but only if they fit what you already do. Joining one you have no connection to reads badly to this audience.

Summer brings crowds to the city's festivals and markets. If you trade at them, a QR code at the stall with a specific promise builds the list faster than a signup box on the website. Christmas is still the biggest quarter, and the last-order-date email still does the most work.

None of that needs a bespoke strategy. It needs a calendar agreed in advance, so nothing is written in a panic.

How the monthly work runs, wherever you are

The arrangement is the same for a Bristol brand as for one anywhere else. Everything runs remotely, by email and the occasional video call. There is no Bristol office and I do not hold in-person meetings, which is part of why the price is what it is.

I work inside your existing email platform. Campaigns get written and sent, the flows your plan covers get built and looked after, list health gets checked, and you get one page of numbers every 30 days. The pricing page has the numbers, and getting started sets out the first month week by week.

What the first ninety days looks like

Month one: fix and build

Deliverability and list hygiene first, then the first flows your plan covers, usually welcome and abandoned cart. Nothing new gets sent into a broken account.

Month two: rhythm

Campaigns on an agreed calendar, drafted a fortnight ahead, in a template built for a phone. Further flows go in behind them if your plan includes them.

Month three: segment and refine

By now there is enough data to split the list properly and improve individual emails on their own numbers rather than guesses. The services page covers the ongoing shape of it.

Bristol email marketing FAQs

Do you meet clients in Bristol?

No. Everything runs remotely, by email and, when it helps, a video call. You are never waiting for a meeting to get an answer.

Can the emails sound less salesy?

Yes. The tone is agreed at the start, and every draft comes to you a fortnight ahead with two rounds of changes, so nothing goes out sounding unlike you.

Do you reply to my customers?

No. Replies from your customers land in your inbox and stay yours to answer. I answer your questions about the email work.

What do you need to get started?

Your shop URL for the free audit. If you go ahead, user access to your email platform and the few things listed on getting started.
